For my bachelor's project, I came up with the idea of finding a tool that would allow me to make this process more intuitive and require less control on my part. This premise and the appeal of exploring generative design led me to TouchDesigner. I can relinquish control exactly where I want to, while still being able to intervene in great detail elsewhere. When using TouchDesigner in conjunction with Ableton Live, instruments become graphic tools. Brushes and effects serve as a visual representation of drums and synthesizers, harmonies and rhythms. So I build myself a visual ‘jamming’ tool. Similar to a loop, from which an entire song emerges in the course of songwriting, numerous visual ideas are generated in a playful way.
